The project originated in high school when teachers at my school created a new pedagogical concept, inviting students to take on more responsibility for their learning journey and grades while encouraging self-reflection. Being exposed to a similar project at CODE, I started to investigate the possibilities of creating a solution that would help every teacher to encourage students to self-reflect on their learnings, participation and focus topics.
I split my work on this project into three parts: research,
design and development. I started by researching the self-topic of
reflection in school and how it is currently done. I created a
survey that I shared with students of two classes. My goal was to
investigate how much self-reflection work they already did and
what tools they needed. On the teacher side, I facilitated a
focus group discussion to understand better what teachers were
thinking and doing to make grades more transparent and invite
students to reflect more.
I then created a concept for the app and a prototype to test it
with teachers and students. I focused on making reflections
frictionless and trying to coach students in their self-reflection.
The claim of Learnlog was "Detect. Object. Overcome". The idea is
that Learnlog would make finding differences in performance evaluation
between teachers and students easier. To enable them to set new goals
and communicate to clarify why certain elements are evaluated this way.
Encouraging students and teachers alike to improve the learning experience
of the student.
Based on this concept, I explored areas of brand design and created a logo and a colour scheme. I also made a landing page for the app that would be used to collect emails for the launch.
At HeyJobs, a scale-up located in Berlin, it was my task to explore the opportunity space of activation for jobseekers registered on the talent platform.
