Year: September 2021 - December 2021
Outcome: Personas, Prototype, Market research
At Yeam, we were trying to understand how teams form and get into a performing state. In times of Covid-19, we looked primarily at hybrid and fully remote teams. The goal was to support new teams to help them perform faster.
At Yeam, we were trying to understand how teams form and get into a performing state. In times of Covid-19, we looked primarily at hybrid and fully remote teams. The goal was to support new teams to help them perform faster.
The project scope was to gain deeper insights into a team's journey through the forming, storming, norming and performing stages. The goal was to identify high-impact factors for a smoother team-building phase. In the first phase of the double diamond focusing on the problem space, we applied methods like observing and semi-structured interviews.
After formulating a research hypothesis, I facilitated three
semi-structured interviews with three members of the team I
observed. The observation of their meetings, using the
fly-on-the-wall method, and the interviews created insights into
the specific challenges and needs of the team.
We collected our findings and combined stories and insights from the different teams. The first step was an affinity map. Afterwards, we created personas and how-might-we questions to prepare for the ideation.
During ideation, we devised team cards to share how one prefers to work quickly. The cards support teams to have more fruitful discussions about working styles and settle on an operating agreement faster. We tested paper prototypes and a Notion page. We saw an increase of an average of 10% in team health scores, a subjective anonymous survey of all team members on how they assess the teamwork experience.
At HeyJobs, a scale-up located in Berlin, it was my task to explore the opportunity space of activation for jobseekers registered on the talent platform.
